Ever wondered if the top employers in your country prefer the name of the university you graduated from? The answer is yes. But surprisingly, in the survey it was found that employers aren’t affected by the rankings of the university in the league tables.
Surprisingly, the University of Manchester was found to be the top university targeted by the top employers. It isn’t Cambridge, or Oxford, which tops the league table. Top 10 universities most targeted by the employers are: University of Manchester, University of Warwick, University of Nottingham, University of Bristol, University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, University College London, Durham University, University of Bath, and University of Leeds.
Ranked eighth in the UK, and 56th in the world; University of Manchester is also ranked 8th in the UK for being the most reputable university. The university currently has 38,590 students, and 10,060 international students, which makes it a big pool for recruiters to grab students from.
The survey looked at graduate vacancies, starting salaries and undergraduate work experience programmes at the country’s 100 leading employers. Some of the leading employers are the Apple, Amazon, BBC, Google, the Bank of England, Deloitte, Dyson, Marks and Spencer, Teach First, and more.
Recruiters also confirmed that 31% of the entry level jobs in the year 2016 are expected to be filled by graduates who did internship, industrial training, or vacation work. The graduate jobs are by 8.1% from last year, and that’s not the only positive. The graduates were offered possible highest salaries: Investment banks(median £45,000), Law firms( median £40,000), Banking & Finance(median £36,500), Oil & Energy companies(median £32,500).
But the result was done on the basis of records from top 100 employers; it will vary if top 1000 employers are considered, and so on. Eventually, for grabbing a graduate position, it will come down to your work experience, extra-curricular activities, knowledge about the work profile, grades, and not merely on the university you attended.
