least five years’ experience as a director/senior manager, recognised as a high
achiever in a non-academic environment and research proposal on the decided topic.

About the course:
The taught DBA programme focuses on advanced strategic
management modules and a research thesis. Phase One lasts 12 months and involves
four taught, compulsory core modules, each studied in an allocated three month
learning period –Strategy into Action Strategic Thinking and Value Management Leadership
and Professional Development Research Methodology and Proposal Phase Two involves
24 months’ thesis work. You will have at least one academic supervisor who will
provide guidance and encouragement.
Course Content:
The complexities of employment in
the modern world require a high level of intellectual sophistication, and an
increasing proportion of employers seek to recruit those with doctoral
qualifications specifically. The distinctive characteristics of doctoral-level
research are of increasing relevance to the challenges faced in a number of
non-academic field.
The DBA enhances professional and executive practice through
the application of rigorous research to real and complex issues. The DBA
programme is aimed at experienced managers and executives working in a range of
professional areas and those with suitable postgraduate qualifications, as
specified in the entry requirements. The programme will appeal to those who
wish to gain the highest level of professional qualification available in
business and management, by undertaking world-class doctoral study.
The full-time DBA is delivered over 36 months, comprising
face to face teaching over a 12- month period at our London Campus, followed by
24 months’ work on your thesis, an in-depth investigation or project of
approximately 50,000-60,000 words. You will have at least one academic
supervisor who will provide guidance and encouragement throughout the research
process. In order to provide a contextual setting for their research,
candidates should have the ability and opportunity to carry out detailed
research activity with one or more participating organisations. Access to, and
support from, the appropriate organisation(s) is considered essential in terms
of initial selection of candidates and for the duration of the programme. Where
necessary, the University will provide assistance in helping candidates
identify a relevant organisation for their research.
